# Kestrel

> Campsite availability alerts. Kestrel continuously scans campground reservation
> systems and notifies you the moment a sold-out site opens up.

Kestrel tracks campgrounds across Recreation.gov (US federal) and
ReserveCalifornia (California State Parks). Users set a watch on a campground for
a date range; a background worker scans every 2 minutes, accelerating to every 30
seconds during a provider's booking-drop window, and sends an email or SMS as soon
as a matching site becomes available.

Kestrel is notification-only. It never books or holds a reservation on a user's
behalf — every alert links to the official provider booking page.
